Balcombe Pre-School’s Commitment to the Child Safe Standards …
At Balcombe Pre-School, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive & inclusive environment where all children are respected, valued and protected from harm.
embedding a child safe culture
Our service implements the Child Safe Standards to build and maintain a culture where child safety is a shared responsibility. We take steps to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of children at all times, whilst also promoting their learning and development. A plain language summary of the Child Safe Standards can be found below; -
Partnering with families
We actively engage families through open communication, regular updates and involvement in decision-making to ensure a collaborative approach to child wellbeing and safety. We ensure that when family & community members interact with our service, they are aware that child safety is everyone’s responsibility & that their behavior aligns with our child safe practices.
Training and awareness
All staff & volunteers at our service participate in regular Child Protection training. Opportunities are also provided for all families to attend information sessions/workshops relating to child safety (such as through; - Body Safety Australia or KidsROAR) - so that together, we can prevent, detect & effectively respond to child abuse.
Effective reporting and response
We proactively share information with relevant authorities to promote the wellbeing and/or safety of a child or a group of children, consistent with their best interests. We are committed to responding promptly to any concerns whilst fulfilling our Duty of Care and legal obligations to protect children and prevent any reasonable, foreseeable risk of injury or harm.
Empowering Children
Children are encouraged to express their views, participate in decisions that affect them and understand their right to feel safe and be heard. Children also know who they can approach if they feel unsafe or have any safety concerns.
Continuous improvement
Our Child Safe policies are reviewed regularly and refined based on feedback from staff, families and external regulators, to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
Transparency & accountability
We uphold clear policies, documentation and governance procedures that support child safety and reassure families of our commitment to protecting their children. We also have established values, behavioral expectations & recruitment practices that are consistent with a child safe culture.
All children have the right to feel safe & be safe - at all times.
At Balcombe Pre-School, we are committed to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care.
We have zero tolerance for child abuse and are dedicated to creating a child‑safe environment where children feel safe, valued and respected.
